Oddly, something of a quiet month after August perhaps due to ’back to school’ or disbelief at our ever-so reasonable fares at £1.50 a ride (children under 2 go free!). Things are slowly building up to the October Apple festival

The Railway estate grounds generally looked a little scorched due to the heat but now things are going back to green. The potato patch at Barry’s Box has given up trying and is now dying off due to lack of rain and TLC

As reported in last month’s update Thursday’s Maintenance Team have made steady progress with the refurbishing of the station signal box. Everything that was to be reclad has been, everything that needed to be primed and undercoated has been, and the final stage is the top coat in Southern Rail beige planned for October.

Our Christmas arrangements are now firming up. Trains to the Father Christmas grotto located at our North Pole will be running on the first three Sundays of December, these being the 4th, 11th & 18th but obviously not Christmas Day. We take you for a ride around the orchards before going to visit Santa in his Grotto.  For the Adullts there is a hot drink and mince pie waiting for you.  If you want to skip the queues our tickets will be on sale in advance, which can be brought from our ticket office, every Sunday until the end of November.  Once again our prices are £3.50 for per child and £1.50 for adults.

Currently we run each Sunday (usually 11am-4pm), Bank Holidays and Brogdale Festivals. Subject to availability we can also be booked for birthday parties, weddings and school trips. Details can be found on the home page of our website

As ever, new members, especially DIYers, are more than welcome to join our Railway Society.  If you’d like to see what we can offer then contact us via our website to arrange a tour of the establishment and estate- or just visit on a Sunday and take it from there
