Here you can read about the latest news and events from the orchard railway.

The railway opens to the public on Sunday 6th March. We are pleased to announce that we are holding our price for the fourth year running at £1.00 for a ride.

Please report to the ticket office if you wish to offer your services to the railway, we can offer a wide range of opportunities to new volunteers.

The Porter

Another year completed! Work continues on improving the railway. The Y signal box is nearing completion. The preparation work for the track extension is underway. The biggest job, weather permitting, will be the construction of a long curved concrete crossing, which will allow us to complete the loop.

Not a great month with the wet weather, but we finished off with a reasonable Bank Holiday weekend apart from a real soaking on Sunday afternoon followed by a lovely sunny evening! Plum Day was very busy with 2 trains running.

The area around the engine and coach sheds has been transformed thanks to the efforts of the Permanent Way gang. Storage has been reorganised and surplus items have been disposed of. The area has even been cleared of litter – let’s see if we can keep it that way.

The concrete crossing from cherry orchard into plum orchard is now complete. The rodding and cabling for the Y junction signal box have now been installed.

The weather has allowed the Permanent Way gang to get on with both maintenance of existing track and the new extension. The next major task is to lay the concrete crossing into plum orchard. There is much to do before this section can be opened to the public.

The railway is still very busy on Sundays and I would like to thank all the people who have come and found us so far this year as it's you who makes it all worthwhile. Faversham camera club visited us one evening in August.
