With the delivery of new wheel sets we are now beginning the process of wheel and bogie overhaul for our various carriages.

The Class 31 engine is in the process of being ‘fettled’ after routine upkeep, with a new maroon paint job pending.

‘Bertie’ the electric engine has new spare parts being fitted and should be pulling passengers again next month.

The annual cycle of track maintenance is coming to an end for the time being- with a few bits and bobs left to do.

There has been a delivery of steam coal for our new ‘N’ Class steam loco- hopefully due in near future.

Thanks to Janet for taking on the Ticket Office during the Summer season and congratulations to our newly qualified driver Brian and guard Keith who have completed their training and taken up their railway duties.

Curious passengers have been asking about the tokens passed on the Barry Box signalman when coming up the line- these are returned to confirm the driver has right-of-way when running back down to the Station.

As ever new volunteer staff are always welcome. We are particularly interested in trainee drivers, guards, engineers and platform staff. If you visit us at Brogdale on most Tuesdays or Wednesdays or Sundays (11-4) we’ll show you round and hopefully talk you into joining us!

Trains run every Sunday, the first at 11.00 am and the last around 4.00 pm and also during most Brogdale festivals and Bank holidays. See our web site for further details.

And finally, a reminder that we can be booked for parties, weddings and the like at very reasonable rates. Contact Mick on 01795 474211 for details or try the other contact details on this website.
